Remembering That Magic Spark

Entering the house I set my keys and laptop on the kitchen counter. Letting out a sigh I looked around at all that needed to be done. The dishes from last nights dinner and this mornings breakfast sat in the sink waiting to be done. Reaching down I picked up a wrapper and shook my head when I opened the cupboard revealing the over flowing trash can. Throwing the wrapper inside I shut the door.  I wasn't in the mood to deal with any of it. I needed a glass of wine and a soak in the tub.

I stopped in mid stride when I entered the bedroom.  On the bed was a white box with a red ribbon. Upon the box was a single red rose and a note.  Picking up the rose and inhaling the intoxicating scent I read the note.

My beautiful wife,

Tonight you shall be treated like the Queen you are. You have until 7 pm to get ready at which time your chariot will arrive to fetch you. Inside the box you will find your attire for the evening.  I will be anxiously awaiting the moment I can drink in your beauty.

Until tonight- Xo

My stomach was full of butterflies, the ones you get when you are going on your first date. Those butterflies hadn't fluttered like this in sometime.  The car came to a stop. My door opened and the driver helped me out. Straightening the gorgeous royal blue dress I gasped when I realized where I was. I had been so caught up with the moment I hadn't paid attention to where we were going. I was standing in the same spot where we had out first date, the pier.

My eyes caught the figure standing on the dock silhouetted by the flickering lights of the many Tiki torches.  He looked just as sexy and hot in that tux as he had that night. When he turned to face me I melted at the smile that spread on his face. I felt the same magic and spark in that moment as I had all those years ago.
